Respond to the Refill My Bottle project, Vietnam Responsible Tourism (VRT) has delivered more than fifty free water bottles to our customers in the last Cao Bang Biking Tour with the hope that they will be filled up and reused instead of single-use bottles.

What is Refill My Bottle?

The development of tourism may cause certain impacts on local environment. More tourists mean more solid waste and littering which creates negative impacts on the destination. To minimize disposable plastic bottles which are used and discarded, Refill Bali project of Indonesia was launched. The question is how we ensure access to clean drinking water for locals and tourists and reduce the number of bottles used.  The simple idea is providing access to clean water so that people can fill up their bottle instead of buying a new one. The goal of this project is to convert traveler behavior from buying plastic bottles to refilling their bottles and to raise awareness of solutions to the plastic problem. Following the success of this model,  the project has been expanded to neighboring countries, including Vietnam.  Refill My Bottle Vietnam is pushed by Footprint Travel, Responsible Travel Club Vietnam (RTC Vietnam), and other partners.

Vietnam Responsible Tourism takes the move

Respond to this meaningful project, Vietnam Responsible Tourism has delivered more than fifty free water bottles to our customers in the Cao Bang Mountain Bike Tour and Sprint Challenge. The tour was organized in the first week of October, 4th-7th October. Our active guests consume a great deal of water on the way because they have to cycle a lot. Understand that, VRT gave water bottles which are dedicated to cyclists to the guests as a gift. There was also relaxing spots on the way where cyclists can stop and refill their bottle before going back to the trails. The bottles are designed beautifully and conveniently for cyclists and the most important thing is they can be used multiple times.

Positive results

The direct result of this activity is reducing a considerable number of bottles wasted and saving a lot of money from buying new water bottles. For this positive results, Vietnam Responsible promise that there will be more tours that free reusable bottles are given.

Vietnam Responsible Tourism is so proud to be one of the organizations pushing Refill My Bottle project forward, join other partners to take a step forward to sustainable tourism in Vietnam. Stay tuned for our next movement to respond to this project in the near future!
